According to Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Isaac (Kerala Finance Minister TM Thomas Issac), due to Kovid-19, the demand for products made from coconut brown sugar in domestic and international markets has been completely reduced, so work began on the new idea. . Its price is 200 rupees.

Isaac said that in fiscal year 2020, coir production in the state increased almost threefold to 20,000 tons, while the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu was closed. Kerala depends on Tamil Nadu for its fiber needs.

According to the news of the English newspaper Hindu Businessline, National Coir Research and Management (NCRMI) and Sreechitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Science and Technology have developed a new coconut mat.

Both have done this work in the last month and a half. Since these mats have disinfectant solutions, if you get into the house by rubbing your shoes and slippers, then the corona cannot get inside. These mats will be sold as a kit, which will contain trays and sanitizers.

Isaac said that the company will conduct field tests of the new carpet in Alappuzha and its sale will start from July. In the first phase, anti-covid health plus mats will be delivered to each panchayat, municipal body and related institutions. In the second phase, these will be available to ordinary people.

The company also plans to manufacture quoer cots and throwaway mattresses for Covid-19 patients in collaboration with the quoir board. These products will be available at affordable prices.
