Government of Karnataka started it ‘Kashi Yatra’ scheme. The Kashi Yatra Project offering cash assistance from Rs 5,000 for each of the 30,000 pilgrims ready to make a pilgrimage to Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

For this program, the government will use funds of up Rs 7 crores from the accounting manager “Support for Manasa Sarovara Pilgrims” announced in the Prime Minister’s budget speech for the financial year. Shashikala Jolle, Minister of Religious Endowments, Hajj and Wakf, said that every pilgrim who takes up the government-sponsored “Kashi Yatra” would benefit only once in a lifetime.

Eligibility to apply to the program:

  • The beneficiary should be from Karnataka
  • The applicant should be over 18 years old
  • Beneficiaries who have previously claimed the grant are not eligible

Documents required:

  • Proof of origin of the beneficiary in Karnataka – voter card, Aadhaar card or ration card.
  • Proof of age – Aadhaar card, voter ID etc.
