The government started a 5 star post office scheme for the people, the common man will get a direct benefit

Mumbai. The Post Office Department (India Post) has started a scheme on behalf of the Five Star Village Scheme to reach the major postal schemes in the rural areas of the country to all parts of the country. This scheme will attempt to bridge the gap between public awareness and access to post office schemes and services, especially in remote villages. Under the five-star village scheme, all postal products and services will be available at the village level. The branches will act as a one stop shop for all the related needs of the villagers.

Schemes covered by the Five Star Scheme include:

(1) Bank savings accounts, recurring deposit accounts, NSC/KVP certificates

(2) Sukanya Samriddhi Beads / PPF Beads

(3) Funded Post Office Savings Account India Post Pay Bank Account

(4) Postal Life Insurance Policy / Rural Postal Life Insurance Policy and

(5) Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana Bead / Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana Bead.

Now that a town gets universal coverage for four schemes from the list above, then that town will get four-star status. If a town meets three schemes, then that town will receive three star status.

Pilot project started-Launching the scheme, Union Minister of State for Communications Sanjay Dhotre said that the scheme is being launched in Maharashtra on a preliminary basis. Based on the experience here, it will be implemented throughout the country. The postman and the postal department are an important part of the life of the common citizen.

Interest rate: In the Post Office NSC scheme, interest is received at a rate of 6.8 per cent per annum. It is capitalized annually, but payment is made only at maturity. The duration of this scheme is 5 years. However, at maturity it can be extended for another 5 years.

The entire state of Maharashtra will be covered by this plan. To begin with, two rural districts/regions have been identified for each region: Akola and Washim in the Nagpur region; Parbhani and Hingoli in the Aurangabad region; Solapur and Pandharpur in the Pune region; Kolhapur and Sangli in the Goa region; and Malegaon and Palghar in the Navi Mumbai region. A total of 50 villages in each district will be covered during the current fiscal year 2020-2021. The regional offices will identify the towns to cover.

How the plan will reach all the peoples. This will be implemented by a team of five Gramin Dak Sevaks who will be assigned a village to market all Post Department products, savings schemes and insurance. This team will be headed by the Postmaster of the corresponding branch. Postal inspectors will personally monitor the team’s progress on a daily basis. The teams will be headed and supervised by the respective Division Chiefs, Assistant Superintendent Posts and Inspector Posts.

Campaign-The Gramin Dak Sevaks team will be running door-to-door awareness campaigns about all the schemes covering all eligible villagers. Wide publicity will be given by displaying the information on the branch bulletin board. Prominent places in the target villages, such as Panchayat offices, schools, village clinics, bus stations and markets, will also be used for advertising and leaflets will be distributed. Small fairs will be organized keeping in mind the safety guidelines of Kovid-19.

Training and Monitoring-The necessary training and infrastructure to cover all schemes will be provided to all branches in the identified towns. Progress and achievement of scheme goals will be closely monitored at circle, regional and divisional levels. Monthly progress will be reviewed by the Postmaster General Chief.

The Maharashtra Circle and Goa State Postmaster General Harish Chandra Agrawal assured the Minister that Maharashtra would set a good example of successful implementation of the Five Star Village Plan, paving the way for its subsequent nationwide launch.
