Redmi launched its first TV, the 98-inch Redmi Smart TV, in China last year. Redmi is now preparing to bring different TV models at different price ranges. According to a teaser video from Xiaomi, soon Redmi will operate as an independent brand in India. At the Redmi Note 10 launch on March 4, Xiaomi hinted that Redmi is bringing something big to India soon. Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi is set to launch its first smart TV in India soon. According to Manu Kumar Jain, General Manager of Xiaomi India, after bringing other devices like power banks, audio accessories (powerbank) and bands to Redmi in its portfolio, the company will soon launch something big in India.

Redmi is already selling smart TVs in China alongside its laptops. At the same time, Xiaomi Mi Brands Smart TV has landed in India in India. Redmi has yet to share any other details about its upcoming smart TV.

Speaking to Gadget 360 at the Redmi Note 10 launch on March 5, Jain said, “Last year, Redmi took a big step towards entering the new segment. We started our Phone Plus strategy and launched several new segments that they include Power Banks, Fitness Bands and TWS (True Wireless Stereo).In 2021, we plan to launch something big in the Indian market.

Redmi launched the 98-inch Smart TV in China last year. Recently, Xiaomi has bought the 86-inch Ultra HD Max TV from Redmi. Direct competition for smart TVs from Xiaomi and Redmi is with smart TVs from Vivo, Oppo and Reality from the Chinese conglomerate BBK Electronics.

In addition to Vivo in India, the other brands Oppo and Reality also sell some select models of smart TVs. All these Chinese brands compete with the global brands Samsung, TCL and Onida.undefined
