Instagram Videos Will Now Post as Reels, Testing of New Feature Begins

New Delhi. Instagram is testing a feature that will turn video posts into reels. Instagram is testing this new feature with select users around the world. The Meta-owned platform confirmed to TechCrunch that the change will make it easier to post video content to Instagram.

A Meta spokesperson told TechCrunch in an email response that they are trying to simplify and improve the video experience on Instagram and are testing the feature in that order. He said that with the help of his feature, video posts can be posted on the platform as a reel.

When the account is public, everyone will be able to search
In this regard, social media consultant Matt Navara said in a tweet that people selected for the test began to see a message saying that the video post must now be shared as a reel. The message states that if the user’s account is public and the video is converted to a reel, anyone will be able to search for that reel and create a new one using the audio.

Option to disable remix
If the account is set to private, only followers can search the reels. It also states that once you post a public reel to the platform, anyone can use it to create remixes. However, users will have the option to disable remixing from settings. At the moment there is no information on whether the changes will be implemented or not. Instagram has also not specified how it will affect existing videos on the platform.
